The School of Complementary Therapies was opened in 1995 by Founder, Jacqueline Fairbrass, to expand the quality of education and awareness of natural healing therapies in the Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) field. CAM stands for Complementary and Alternative Medicine which is the standard short form for health care that does not fall under the western medical model. We continue to learn, research, and grow. Whether you are searching for personal development, beginning a new career path or expanding your practice – SCT has something to offer everyone. By coming to study with SCT you have chosen to work with holistic concepts and to embrace a path in CAM. Whether you have chosen a course of study as a new career path, to enhance your own and your loved ones health and awareness or you are adding to an existing career, you will learn and grow as you study with us.
All courses and programs at SCT are based on Holistic Health Care. Holistic comes from the Greek word “holos” which means “whole”. In holistic health care we acknowledge that body, mind, spirit and emotion are all integral parts of who we are. By using the term holistic we are recognizing the whole person; that is every aspect of who we are.
You may have heard of the body-mind connection, or even of body, mind and spirit. But at SCT we believe there is another component to us that plays a role in making us whole, and that is our “emotions”. Don’t believe us? Think about this. Have you ever felt so angry that you wanted to explode yet your mind was telling you that you were getting angry for no reason? Or have you ever suddenly felt sad and yet you felt there was nothing to be sad about. This is the emotions. Now, the emotions have a lot to do with chemicals in the body and they also have a lot to do with the sub-conscious mind. But for the purpose of explaining the holistic approach to health and well-being we use “body, mind, spirit and emotion” to explain the whole person.
All courses at the SCT are based on treating the relationship between each individual and health in a holistic manner. The basis of all holistic healing arts is Energy Medicine, also known as Vibrational Medicine. The subject of Energy as a healing tool has been used and embraced by other cultures and is making great head way in our western society as a complement to our traditional allopathic medical approach. The modern approach to subtle energy is known as Quantum Physics. As this field of study continues to flourish we are seeing our beliefs about how the body functions and how health and wellness is effected by much more than what we eat, how we exercise and our genetic make-up. The science of quantum physics is opening the door to embrace the understanding of subtle energy and harness the power of the mind in our day-to-day life. What we think has an impact on our cells and our cells make-up our body. Our thoughts affect our bodies.
In our courses and programs at SCT you will learn about subtle energy, and the relationship between spirituality and healing. As a Student of SCT, you have chosen to embrace a Holistic approach to health care. You will learn to empower your clients as you empower your own life. Students are encouraged to find their passion. We begin by discovering what we want; dreaming the dream. Once we have found this dream, we learn to believe. All our instructors and assistants behind the scenes believe in you and your dream. The final step belongs to you; you make it real; the manifestation begins and your dream comes to life. You start to live the life you have always wanted. Enjoy your training with SCT. Bring your own flavor to it and allow yourself to dream big!

More About SCT
Here at SCT we recognize that people don’t live and learn in a vacuum. They have families, friends, jobs, responsibilities: in other words “lives”. Most SCT students are adding time to study into their busy lives. At SCT we recognize this and take the community-based model as our basis. SCT instructors, teachers and facilitators work and live in the CAM field, continuing to study, learn and grow. SCT students are encouraged to become part of the SCT Community: in the model of “holism” that is SCT and its courses, programs and therapies. We are proud of our SCT graduates and encourage them to share their stories and successes with us. Become part of the SCT community by sharing with us. Get involved by taking courses, volunteering, training as an instructor, subscribing to the Newsletter, writing articles, sharing tips and telling your friends about SCT. We have something special here…pass it on…and remember to keep in touch. There’s always something new happening at the School of Complementary Therapies
