Aim for around 8 hours quality sleep per night
I’ve noticed something lately. Especially during the C-19 pandemic. Or panic, if you prefer. We’re extra tired.
In fact, it’s been funny to listen to people as they discuss their extra fatigue. And can’t figure out why they’re so darned tired.
Well, for a start, change is tiring. When we change habits, we can get absolutely exhausted. This effects body, mind, emotions and spirit.
But, there’s something more insidious at play here.
Sometimes when we are stressed we can kid ourselves that watching TV or playing on the computer, phone, tablet etc. is the ‘rest’ we need. And it can be. But, if we are still feeling tired. Or fatigued. Then we need to slow down and check this out:
So, the answer is, we need time to do nothing and to sleep.
Do nothing. Sleep more.
But, I am resting!
No, you’re still ‘doing.’
Yes, I really did suggest you do some nothing.
But really, I am resting.
Stop it! Take a break from resting, and get to bed a little earlier.
And the benefits are that you will you have more energy and feel less stressed.
Quality sleep makes your brain work better. Hah, you’ll be even better at those on-line games when you play them.
Lotsa lovely sleep means your emotions stay in-check. So important right now. So important!
Bonus: dunno about you, but while self-isolating, I’ve been getting the munchies. And a few extra pounds have crept on.
Tah-dah!
Clinical research suggests that appetite-regulating hormones are affected by sleep. And, my dear, that means sleep deprivation may possibly have a role to play in weight gain.
That’s right. Not enough sleep equals a chubby tummy!
But what do we do when the mind is racing away? When we can’t stop thinking. (What hubby calls ‘monkey brain.’) We need a little help.
Because remember, it’s quality sleep that nourished the old brain cells. And gets the hormones balanced. And, quite simply, makes us feel absolutely fabulous.
I have a couple of FREE downloads to help you. The first is a gentle meditation that I use with Anxious Children. But it works for adults too. And the second is a walk through a Herb Garden, that keeps the mind busy imagining scents, textures and all sorts of goodness. That way there’s no room for monkey brain!
Either one will help you drift into deep relaxation. And from there into deep, quality sleep.
And guess what?
If you wake-up, just listen to it again. Gradually, you’ll find just turning it on and your wonderful, powerful brain will start to send you off to sleep.
So, click here to go to the page where both MP3s are ready for you to download. There’s no charge, but if you’d like to make a donation, I’d love to accept it. However, my goal is that you get to have a good night’s sleep.
Turn off that TV. Put down your phone. And take a moment before bed to change gears. Then listen to the MP3 and drift into deep relaxation. Followed by deep sleep.
Honestly, it’s as easy as that.
Night, night. Sleep tight, darling.
PS Sometimes when my mind is busy I find it difficult to get enough sleep. I use my Hypnotherapy Radiant Health to help me doze off. By starting my night’s sleep fully relaxed by the progressive relaxation my mind switches off. By listening to the positive affirmations my brain starts to focus on the important stuff and I just don’t wake-up with the busy brain.
