Eat, Drink and Be Merry this Spring!

Spring is in the air!

And once you get past the urge to Spring Clean your home and Clear out Your Clutter in the house and the office, the thought of pulling off the wooly sweaters just might start to fill you with panic.

Oh no, the winter comfort eating will be exposed! Argh! So how about doing some spring cleaning and clutter clearing for your body? It’s very natural at this time of year to feel like you want to make some changes, so why not start with looking at your energy levels.

As the weather improves many of us feel like getting out and about more and it’s natural and healthy to want to increase our energy. Taking more care with how we nourish our bodies with the foods we eat is a good step to gaining more energy and clearing some of that comfort eating clutter!

You are not what you eat—you are what your body uses.

Do you know someone or know of someone who ate right, drank their water, exercised regularly—and dropped dead early in life? Yes, we all do.

On the other side of things, my granddad smoked three packs a day, drank beer regularly and lived well into his eighties!

So, what’s the answer? Drink a bottle of vodka a day, smoke a pack of cigarettes, eat nothing but junk food, while lying on the sofa and live to a ripe old age? No, of course not!

You don’t need a doctorate in CAM to help you reach that decision. So, what is the path to a healthy life? Feeling Absolutely Fabulous!

Studies in human behavior are indicating that happiness, comfort, family and friends lead to a ripe old age. Feeling loved and appreciated helps you to live longer. Taking care of yourself helps you to feel loved and appreciated.

Start with yourself! Eat, Drink, Be Merry

And an easy way to begin to take care of how you look after yourself is beginning with your body and what you put in it. You can ingest nutrients until you are blue in the face, but if your body can’t do anything with them, there’s no point.

For your body to function in a healthy way you need to feel good. The better you feel about yourself, the healthier you will be.

Me and my Grandad Ted

Back to granddad—he loved his job and his family. And importantly, he only ate what he loved and he never over ate. He nourished his body by eating a balanced diet of foods that he enjoyed eating. His diet was very simple with no processed foods. Pretty much meat, potatoes and vegetables; fruit for dessert.

He drank black tea, which we now know is high in anti-oxidants and other things that are good for us. He walked daily and took pleasure in simple things.

When you feel good about yourself you are drawn to a more balanced and healthy lifestyle. You will want to eat the foods that nourish your body. And your body is unique!

There is so much confusion nowadays with fad diets and trendy foods that are touted to be the ultimate in health and nutrition. I suggest this Spring you go back to the simple things in life.

Eat what nourishes your body.

Exercise your body in a way that you enjoy. Take time to enjoy the change of season. Celebrate life with friends and loved ones.

Still not sure about what to eat, then take the SchooloofCT Nutrition 101 course by correspondence. During the course you are guided to explore your own eating patterns and what types of food suit you.

Need a little more help, book an appointment with Jacqueline Fairbrass and start Feeling Absolutely Fabulous!
Keep well,
Jacqueline
