Best Fitness Tip Ever — Get Off Your Butt
As simple as it may sound, the best fitness tip ever is to quite simply MOVE!
Or, as I like to say, get off your butt. (I’ve lived in North America long enough to use butt, but translating to my natural Brit speak. I mean get off your BUM!)
Did you know that to be considered moderately active you only need to exercise for 2.5 hours a week.
And when I say exercise it doesn’t have to mean joining a gym.
That moderate exercise can be as simple as one hundred and fifty minutes of brisk walking. A recent study in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health indicated that dog owners who walk their dogs are 34 percent more likely to be be physically fit than people who don’t.
When we are physically fit we feel better. So important to our holistic health and well-being. Exercise of any type promotes happy hormones. They whiz through the body and make us feel so good.
If your don’t know, I had adopted a rescue dog, Eddy. He’s passed over the rainbow bridge now. But we’d go for at least one half hour walk each day, and some days as it feels so good we go for two. Hubby takes him for enthusiastic bike rides. Out comes the harness, and Eddy goes to hide.
Because his favorite was a sweet, little twenty minute stroll when he got to sniff around and enjoy stretching his legs. Run a little, poke around a little. Breathe the fresh air and get his happy on.
And on the weekends we often make it three little strolls a day! Eddy was happy. Ad so was I.
And we were always both looking good and feeling great! Woohoo!
So, in conclusion, as they say: get off your butt and move. You’ll be glad you did. Then do it again!
