Question
I received some Aromatherapy gifts this Christmas. They are pre-blended mixes from the store to use in the bath. Are there any health or safety issues I should worry about before I use them.  Christine, BC

Answer
Sounds like a nice Christmas gift! All good quality blended products will have a list of what goes into them. Check for the botanical names in Latin to indicate best quality. As essential oils are concentrated plant extracts we do need to be careful. So, this is a good question. However, dilutions in commercial blends are usually pretty safe. Be aware of anything you have a sensitivity to and if in doubt, re-gift! As for safety precautions, it’s always good to check if a carrier oil is used whether it is nut-based. If you are not comfortable check out this site http://www.naturesgift.com/warnings.htm for a list of essential oil contra-indications. Please write to me if you have any questions.
