I have a question that is slightly different from your normal questions, I hope that’s OK.
I would like to try an Aromatherapy Massage treatment but I am very self conscious about the look of my body. Do I have to undress for the treatment?
Hi Self Conscious,
Good question. You should never have to take off your clothing if you are feeling uncomfortable. If the Aromatherapist insists then find another therapist.
Book your massage with someone you feel comfortable with. Using someone of the same sex may ease your tension. Let them know you feel uneasy and remember the Aromatherapist is there to make you feel relaxed and comfortable.
If you want to keep your clothes on. Talk to the therapist before the appointment. Are you okay in your bra and panties? Or perhaps you’d like to wear a swimsuit?
Perhaps start with Reflexology for your feet or hands. Allowing the therapist permission to go further up the leg and arms, as you gain comfort. Even wearing a bathing suit the therapist can work on your face, neck, shoulders, back, hands, feet, arms and legs!
Body image affects many people. You are so not alone!
We all are subjected to media constantly telling us we’re not good enough. You are. Just as you are! But you need to believe it. I know that regular Aromatherapy Massage will help you accept your body.
